Aluminium Alloys
PIO Metal produces its own extrusions using the so-called “soft alloys”.
These are essentially alloys belonging to the 1000 series, 3000 series and 6000 series.
The alloys of the 1000 series have a degree of purity in aluminum content of at least 99.5%. This gives it a high capacity of electrical and thermal conductivity. They are also characterized by excellent corrosion resistance. Typically used in the electrical and electromechanical sector.
The alloys of the 3000 series, whose main element is Manganese, have the advantage of having a high resistance to corrosion and are used in the brazing technology. The 3000 series family is typically used in the automotive and heat exchanger industries.
In the alloys of the 6000 series, on the other hand, Silicon and Magnesium are the alloying elements that characterize them. Among the properties of this family of “soft alloys”, good machinability and weldability stand out. In fact, these are alloys that are used to make welded structures in general and mechanically worked components.
They find application in most of the extruded designs for all industrial uses.
In particular, the alloys used by PIO Metal are: 1050 – 1070 – 3003 – 3103 – 3004 – 6013 – 6060 – 6063 – 6005.
